Our current brochure outlining the courses for this year can be found here.
We are running a new 8 week Beginners' course from 21 January, details to follow shortly - watch this space! If you would be interested in attending, please let us know via firstname.lastname@example.org.
The current provision is outlined in our brochure, but again we will be announcing the further modules planned for the new year as soon as we have them, so please watch this space!
Fast Track Bridge is a course for complete beginners who want to learn to play and get started quickly. It will also suit people who have learnt before but need to refresh their knowledge and anyone who cannot commit to a longer course of weekly lessons. The pace is more intensive than the regular beginners' courses, so it may suit faster learners.
When you have taken some lessons and would like to try your hand (we're all about puns) at a duplicate session, we recommend our Monday evening session at 7.15pm. It is a Supervised Play session with an expert available to give you advice on bidding and play.
The Friday evening session is also a gentle duplicate session where you can play the hands at a comfortable pace. Regular players take part in a competition suitable for 2nd year students.
After gaining confidence playing on a Monday or Friday evening, improvers could move on to playing in a No Fear pairs competition on a Friday morning (10am-1pm), when you play 21 hands at a fairly relaxed pace. There are also No Fear pairs competitions on Monday and Wednesday afternoons (1.15pm-4.45pm) when you play 24 or 26 hands.
To help less experienced players transition to unfamiliar sessions, we are in the process of setting up a Mentor Scheme for next year. With the aim of making it all a lot less scary!, this will offer a pool of experienced players to play with you the first time (or two) you try a new session.
